Episode 10: It Is by Law That You Receive
Good now.
There's an old body of thought called the Hermetic Principles — seven laws, written down in something called The Kybalion in the early 1900s, that traces back through Hermes Trismegistus, further still to Egypt. I'm not building this system from that book. I want to be clear about that from the first line. But the deeper I get into this, the more I keep landing on the exact same laws from a completely different direction — lived first, named second.
A law isn't a theme.
A law is something that cannot be broken — which means I was never really "discovering" whether my ingredients matched these seven laws. I was discovering that I could never have built anything outside of them in the first place. There was no other option. Every recipe I've ever cooked this season was already operating inside these laws whether I named them or not, the same way gravity holds a body to the ground whether that body has ever heard the word gravity.
So let me show you how I'm actually operating inside each one.
Correspondence.
As above, so below is not a preference of mine. It's the reason a mood inside my chest was never going to stay contained to my chest. It had nowhere else to go. The law doesn't allow a mood to exist at only one scale — it has to move through every scale, the body, the room, the sky, because that's what correspondence actually enforces. I didn't decide that a headache could relate to weather. The law had already decided that before I ever built a single ingredient.
Vibration.
Nothing rests. Ever. That includes me. That includes Uranus, which I only ever built the way I built it because there was no other way vibration could actually behave. I couldn't have made Uranus still, or fixed, or permanent, even if I'd tried. The law wouldn't allow it. What I called "self-directed movement" was really just me describing what vibration is forced to do inside a self.
Rhythm.
Everything flows, out and in, on a measured swing. Venus repelling irregularity was never a choice I gave her. It's what rhythm does, structurally, whether I assign it to a planet or not. I gave rhythm a name and a face. I didn't give it permission to exist. It already existed, and it was always going to show up somewhere in what I built, because nothing in reality is exempt from swinging between poles.
Polarity.
Everything is dual. Hurts and Jules aren't two amplifiers I invented from nothing. They're what polarity does the instant amplification exists at all — it has to split into two poles, because a single, unpaired intensity isn't allowed to stand alone under this law. The moment I built one amplifier, the law required its opposite to eventually surface. And it did. Jules came from the law refusing to let Hurts exist without a counterpart.
Cause and Effect.
Every cause has its effect. This is the one I lean on hardest, and it's also the one I have the least control over. I don't get to decide whether an effect shows up. The oven sound, the dog, the rainbow — none of those were things I created through belief. They were things the law owed me the second I set a real cause into motion. I'm not generating proof. I'm just standing in a universe that's structurally incapable of letting a real cause go without its effect.
Mentalism.
The All is Mind. The unseen, internal combination to come before the physical reflection. That ordering isn't mine to rearrange. Matter cannot precede mind under this law — which means every single recipe I've ever built was always going to have to be imagined before it could show up in my life. I couldn't have built this system backward even if I'd wanted to.
Gender.
Every act of generation requires an initiating force and a receiving force, together. Pluto holding both ends of the rope is the only way generation is allowed to function under this law — projection and completion, present at once, or nothing gets created at all. Every retrieval recipe I've built, reaching back to finish something left undone, was never optional.
Under this law, an initiated thing left without completion was always going to demand to be finished by something, somewhere, eventually.
There's one more thing I have to add before I close this out, if every element I've built transforms the moment it's amplified — Mars becomes Uranus, Venus becomes Mercury, Neptune becomes Uranus — there's one that doesn't.
1. The self.
Raised to any power, it stays exactly 1. No opposite pole. No transformation waiting on the other side of amplification. And that's not an exception to the law. That's the law's own starting point; wholeness.
The self isn't governed by these seven laws the way everything else is. It moves through them. Polarity, Rhythm, Vibration, Cause and Effect — all of that governs what happens once something is set into motion. None of it governs the motion's source.
Mars has to become something else under enough pressure. Venus has to become something else. The self never has to become anything. It stays 1, no matter what it moves through or generates.
Which means the self was never boxed in by any of this. The laws can't be broken, but they were never placed on the imagination itself — only on what the imagination sets into motion.
There are zero limitations on what I can conceive. The laws only ever start applying once I actually create.
So here's where that leaves me. I'm not operating outside these laws, and I never was. But I'm also not stuck inside them the way I thought. I'm the one thing in this entire system that gets to maneuver through all seven, untouched at the root, free to imagine anything at all — and only once I bring it into motion do the laws take it from there.
Enjoy your now.
